Advancing Gastroenterology — Together for Digestive & Liver Health in Nepal

Dear Esteemed Members and Fellow Gastroenterologists,

Warm greetings to each one of you.

It is both a profound honor and a tremendous responsibility to serve as your General Secretary. As we embark on this journey together, my primary vision is clear, to strengthen our collective voice, elevate our professional standards, and amplify our impact on digestive health in our nation.

Our society is more than an institution; it is a vibrant community of healers, innovators, and lifelong learners. To propel us to greater heights, our focus this year will be on

  1. Regular educational meets:We will intensify our commitment to continuing medical education (CME). Expect a richer calendar of webinars, workshops, and our annual conference, featuring cutting-edge research, advanced endoscopic techniques, and holistic patient management strategies. We will also champion young gastroenterologists by fostering robust mentorship programs and research grants.
  2. Regular engagement with policy makers and public:We will actively engage with healthcare policymakers to shape a supportive environment for both practitioners and patients. This includes advocating for better access to cutting-edge treatments, supporting preventive screening programs like those for colorectal cancer, and establishing clear guidelines for ethical and sustainable practice.
  3. Unity as Our Strength:Internal communication will be a priority. Through regular and updated website content, and interactive forums, we will ensure you are always informed about society initiatives, policy changes, and opportunities for collaboration. Your feedback and active participation will be the driving force behind our policies.

This tenure, let us collectively pledge to be ambassadors of digestive health awareness. I urge each member to dedicate time to community outreach—educating the public on prevention of GI cancers, importance of liver health, and management of common disorders. A healthy society begins with an informed society.

I am here to listen and serve. My door (and inbox) is always open to your ideas, concerns, and aspirations. Let us work in unison, with integrity and innovation at our core, to advance the noble field of gastroenterology.
